Jason Statham as Daredevil?

The LA Times has an interview with Jason Statham where he explicitly states how much he'd like to play Daredevil if they make another movie. To me that actually makes a fair amount of sense - the Director's Cut of Daredevil is actually a pretty good film (I like the original too, but the DC is one of those rare cuts which rather than just sticking in a few minutes' extra footage actually adds an entire extra subplot and makes one or two significant changes).

Anyway. Given that virtually without exception all major comic book movie sequels which had at least a decent first installment have been better than the originals (X-Men 2, Spider-Man 2, Dark Knight...probably others), a Daredevil sequel with a bit of thought behind it could have potential. Nothing against Ben Affleck - in fact if he wanted to reprise the role, no objections here - but failing that Jason Statham could work well.
