Site changes

Any regular visitors will have noticed a couple of changes - most obviously is the new navigation bar, which now does funky growing/shrinking things. Partly this is an excuse to play with javscript, but also it's a much-needed effort to tidy it up a bit, as it was being swamped by links. Hopefully this way means that all the links are still there for people to browse through, but you can also fold them away mostly out of sight if wanted. How you arrange them will be remembered, so you won't have to change them each time you visit - if you hate it, just expand them all and it's pretty much back to how it always used to be. If I've done things right it should also be visible to the non-javascript users among you (albeit fully expanded). Anyway, if you have any issues with it or suggestions to change it, please get in touch. The other change is only noticeable if you regularly vote on the mistakes - rather than being dragged to a separate page each time you vote, then having to close it to go back, voting now just floats a little blue box over the page acknowledging it - click on it to make it vanish again. Not a major thing, but hopefully a slight improvement. The only downside is that despite my best efforts I couldn't get a javascript and non-javascript version going simultaneously, so apologies for that.

These are part of an ongoing effort by me to partly learn a few new tricks, but also make the site a bit smoother and more user-friendly. If you've got any suggestions for design changes or new features you'd like, please get in touch!

Facebook application

Bit of an experiment, this - there's now a Facebook application which will feature the daily mistake on your Facebook page. To check it out, click here. I'm learning the basics about Facebook apps as I go, so if you've got any ideas for what else you'd like to see in a Movie Mistakes application, either contact me via the standard contact form or else use the application's wall or discussion board.

New RSS feed

a few people have suggested this of late - there's now an RSS feed available for the daily screenshot.

Mailing list

There's now a moviemistakes.com mailing list - not entirely sure what to do with it yet, but enough people have asked over the years that it's probably worth doing. At the moment my thoughts are to send something out every week or two, highlighting the biggest new entries on the site, any site news, mistakes in current releases...things like that.

Membership

Absolutely everyone can read and submit mistakes, but members have no adverts, get full access to the pictures, have their own forum, and many more benefits, all for just $10 a year! Check out the membership page for all the details.

Test membership
