Charley makes his way to the Laramie Wyoming Public Library in hopes of finding his Aunt Margy, which he does. Aunt Margy recognizes Charley and is more than willing to accept him into her home. When Charley asks Aunt Margy if he could stay with her and possibly finish high school - maybe even join the football team - Aunt Margy replies that she would not want it any other way, and he was welcome to stay with her as long as he wanted. Charley is somewhat depressed and tells Aunt Margy that he really misses his dad and has nightmares, mostly about not being able to save "Pete " he then breaks down, dropping into her arms and crying. Aunt Margy was kind, sympathetic, nurturing, and optimistic from the moment she saw Charley in the library and all indications are that Charley now has a surrogate mother and new "family." The movie closes with Charley resuming jogging - like he had done when living with his dad - and showing a restored sense of normalcy and stability after making a successful transition living with his loving Aunt Margy. Charley stops in the middle of the road to look around, similar to what he had done in the opening scene. He may not know exactly where he will be going in the future or what is in store for him, but it is at least in a positive and promising direction.

Continuity mistake: In the opening inside scene, Charley is by the front door, wearing baggy oversized gray jogging shorts. The side pocket slits are partially open, the legs are wide enough to fit three or four of Charley's legs, and the excess material around the waist is bunched. When the camera shows Charley coming out the door, his jogging shorts are slimmer/ more form-fitting and look more navy (or a darker gray) than gray. During his jogging, his shorts turn baggier for a while, then return to a slim fit. (00:02:05)
